AEI Security & Communications Limited has launched a new version of their single camera and 4 camera Stealth Big Brother system with both new hardware & new software!

The new Stealth Big Brother XP GOLD kit is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP and includes a 4 camera PCI capture card plus software written by AEI engineers in the UK and based on several years of development.

New features!

The new XP GOLD boasts features never before seen on earlier versions including a monitor out connector on the PCI card, new compact driver set, faster software and colour instructions with comprehensive access to on-line support.

Simple Operation

The software enables the user to connect 4 CCTV cameras to their PC and monitor each one simultaneously. A picture from each of the cameras is displayed on the PC screen and the amount of movement in each picture is displayed using 4 bar graphs. Each of the bar graphs features a slider control which sets the trigger point at which movement will start recording to the PCs hard drive. A master slide control allows overall sensitivity settings to made on all cameras.

By arming the system it can automatically start recording images when movement is detected in several different formats including still images and movie formats. 1 Gig of hard disk space would allow 50,000 images to be stored using the systems .jpg format and user selectable compression rates.

A series of images can be built up over a period of time that provides up to 6 images per second each one with date and time stamp.

Superb benefits

Because one PC can be used to capture the output from 4 CCTV cameras it can effectively replace 4 time laps VCRS and because images are only taken when movement is detected it makes very efficient use of storage space.

Image movement detection can be refined in a number of different ways, a mask features allows any part of the image to be excluded from movement detection, slider controls ensure sensitivity, brightness and contrast can be set individually for each camera and the type of movement detection can be selected using 3 scales which include edge detection fine and course settings as well as pixel comparison.

Edge detection monitors the images for movement in trace lines as internal images are converted to outline trace patterns and continually compared. This is particularly suited to outdoor camera use where images will not cause a trip condition as brightness changes throughout the day. Pixel comparison looks continually for changes in the average pixel value within the image and is better suited for low light conditions. Each one of the 3 detection methods is selected on the control panel.

What the manufacturer says!

Commenting on the features, Melanie Barnard of AEI stated “ we have attempted to include features that make the system very similar to a conventional burglar alarm system with the ability to arm and disarm the system as well as an exit delay setting which is user adjustable. With Stealth Big Brother GOLD we have placed more emphasis in our on-line support material and included a number of hot-links from the program to make access to support quicker and less complicated”.

Other features include the ability to connect to the Internet using Proxy software, e-mail images as attachments, uploading images under a scheduled upload.

Features included within AEI’s new 4 cam system are also reflected in a new release of their single camera version which has all the benefits together with the ability to connect to most PC users web cams thereby turning a conventional web cam into a security camera.
